Featuring the Work of John Taft
About John Taft
Originally from western New York, John fell in love with the west on several cross country trips
while attending Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. John worked in New York
City as a designer and art director for years while a desire to paint, nurtured by regular gallery
and museum visits with his wife, grew.
Following 9/11, John began meeting weekly with a group of artists of various disciplines a mile
from ground zero in NYC. The group, lead by former National Council of the Arts member,
Makoto Fugimura, discussed art and faith over bagels and coffee. Ultimately, feeling called to
be an artist, in 2004 John moved with his family to Colorado and began painting in earnest.
John has been honored with awards and recognition including being awarded the top landscape
award twice at Oil Painters of America National Exhibit, receiving the “Award of Excellence”
from Fine Art Connoisseur Magazine at the National Western Club Show in Denver, he has
been part of the American Masters Show at the Salmagundi in New York, and exhibited in the
Coors Western Art show this year.
John lives in Colorado with his family.
