About J. Chris Morel

J. Chris Morel is an oil painter from Taos, New Mexico. Morel was the recipient of the "2007 Golden Thunderbird Award, Best of Show" at the 2007 “Maynard Dixon Country” show. Growing up in rural Maryland, Morel developed a deep affection for the lush rolling landscapes, farms and fields of the Mid-Atlantic region. Moving west, he eventually settled in Taos NM where the dramatic landscape and the incredible legacy of American Western landscape painting continues to provide limitless subject matter and inspiration for his work. In addition to "Maynard Dixon Country," he participates in annual exhibitions at the National Cowboy Hall of Fame, Albuquerque Museum of Art and the Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa. Morel is represented by “Nedra Matteucci’s Fenn Gallery, Santa Fe NM and Gallery Gabrie, Pasadena CA.
