"Camille" 14x11 Inches Oil on Linen
From the day I started this project, my goal was to visually describe the people of Long Valley, a place of beauty and wonder that I fell in love with last year upon my first visit.
Much of western art romanticizes cowboys of yesteryear, but cowboys and cowgirls still exist and our great nation relies on the work they do on their ranches and farms to deliver food for the American people. I wanted to show the character and texture of these people, the quality of cold, dry skin or the beauty and strength of the modern cowgirl. Art to me is about honesty and this is as honest a portrayal of a people I can do.
